You have the right to a Good Faith Estimate
Under Section 2799B-6 of the Public Health Service Act (the No Surprises Act), health care providers are required to give clients who do not have insurance, or who are not using insurance, an estimate of expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services.
Because Kapoor Family Counseling & Consulting Inc. is a private-pay practice, this right applies to you. You are entitled to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency services, including psychotherapy sessions and therapy intensives.
Our standard fees
| Service | Fee |
|---|---|
| Initial 15-minute consultation | Free |
| Individual therapy session (50 minutes) | $275 |
| Couples / family therapy session | $450 |
| Individual therapy intensives | $1,500 to $5,500 depending on format |
| Couples therapy intensives | $1,750 to $6,600 depending on format |
The total cost of your care depends on how many sessions you attend, which is something we will discuss together and review as treatment progresses. Your written Good Faith Estimate will include an estimate for the anticipated course of care, and it will be updated if your treatment plan changes.
When you will receive your estimate
- When you schedule a service at least 3 business days in advance, you will receive a Good Faith Estimate within 1 business day of scheduling.
- When you schedule a service at least 10 business days in advance, you will receive it within 3 business days.
- You may also request a Good Faith Estimate at any time before scheduling, and it will be provided within 3 business days.
Make sure to save a copy or take a picture of your Good Faith Estimate.
If your bill is higher than your estimate
If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you have the right to dispute the bill through the federal patient-provider dispute resolution process. You may start a dispute within 120 calendar days of the date on the bill.
For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate or the dispute process, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call 1-800-985-3059.
Questions?
If anything about fees or estimates is unclear, please ask. Reach me at (626) 344-0536 or through the contact page. A Good Faith Estimate is not a contract, and it does not obligate you to receive services.
